How to Motivate Yourself

Are you having difficulty self-motivating? Do you suffer from a lack of drive? If you are wondering why you can’t find yourself motivated, it is probably because of low self-esteem. Here are three simple keys you can try to get motivated. First, discover the cause of your lack of drive. Perhaps you have suffered a setback and convinced yourself that you are no good. Contemplate this deeply. Once you understand why you lack drive, the next step is to consider just what you want out of life and think about what exactly you wish to achieve in life. If you still don’t feel like improving your situation, then you can sit back and wait for something to happen. This is a temporal situation, so this is certainly one way to go. But if you feel that you need to do something about it, then the third point is to try to create an image of your ideal self. If you can do this, you will be able to find ways to motivate yourself again.

If motivation does not come to you automatically, you’d have to make an effort on your end. One way of doing this is to set short term goal. In other words, find something that you can accomplish rather easily without much difficulty so that you can savor the sense of achievement and success afterwards. Think about what you can do right now, or find something you can improve on right away. For example, you can clean your desk, and then you will probably be able to tell which job is the first priority for you now.

If you are happy to wait for motivation to come to you, then all you need to do is sit back and wait. But if you wish to improve yourself or the situation you are in right now, then the key to get motivated is to start with something you can accomplish right away.
