Greetings,
Thank you for being a valued part of the Okawa Books community throughout 2024! We hope this message finds you well and in good spirits.
As we approach the new year, 2025, many of us take a moment to reflect on the year gone by and set our intentions for the year ahead.
In this spirit, we'd like to share a simple yet powerful mindset—one passed down through generations and still practiced by many of the world's most influential figures.
It is:
"Live each day as if it were your last."
The Key to Transforming Your Life: Focusing onToday
Many of us have a tendency to take time for granted, treating it as if it's limitless. Yet, time is the most precious and finite resource we possess.
For example, the average human lifespan is roughly 30,000 days. How we spend each of these days shapes the trajectory of our lives.
"If today were the last day of my life, how would I spend it?"
This is a powerful question we should ask ourselves each day. It reminds us that every moment counts and encourages us to make the most of the time we have.
Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple, famously asked himself this question every morning:
"If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?"
If the answer was "no" for too many consecutive days, Jobs would not hesitate to reassess his life and adjust his course.
This mindset was a constant theme throughout his journey, helping him stay focused on the present moment and empowering him to shape the future he envisioned.
This principle also aligns with the teachings of Jesus Christ in the Bible:
"Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
— Matthew 6:34, The Bible
By focusing fully on today, rather than being trapped by fears of the future or regrets from the past, we unlock the true key to cultivating genuine happiness.
Master Okawa elaborates on the concept of "One Day as a Lifetime" in his book The Laws of the Sun, grounding it in profound spiritual truths.
Now, we invite you to listen to Master Ryuho Okawa's enlightening lecture, "Live Each Day as a Lifetime."
Your Life Can Change Starting Today
Ask yourself each day: "If today were my last, how would I spend it?"
Make this a daily practice for one year, and you'll notice profound changes in your life. Three years from now, when you look back, you'll see a completely transformed version of yourself.
The power to make today extraordinary lies in your choices.
Start this new year as a renewed version of yourself!
