JAPAN’S DARK HERO ARRIVES!
It is my first time writing about Japan’s Dark Hero.
I wrote A Novel Hell Monk to provide a deeper understanding of
and serve as a guide to The Laws of Hell.
— From Afterword and Commentary
A paranormal mystery novel written by Ryuho Okawa, an internationally renowned, prolific author of over 3,250 titles on religious truth, personal growth, political philosophy, and economic prosperity.
One evening, a jewelry store in Tokyo’s high-end shopping district was hit by thieves. As they made an attempt to escape, a monk with a straw hat and a Buddhist staff stood in their way.
Moments after the monk tapped the ground with his staff a few times, an incredible event unfolded before the public. This was the beginning of a series of supernatural incidents that shocked Japan. And as strange as it may seem, a mysterious monk named Hell Monk was involved in each of them.
Is this superhuman monk the devil or Buddha’s servant?
A chilling yet exciting story of a Dark Hero who will teach every person on Earth what it truly means to live as a human being. Let Hell Monk take you to the unimaginable world that cannot be explained by science.

The Novel Hell Monk is like the Di Zang Wang Bodhisattva of Chinese Buddhism who never attain the enlightenment of Tatagatha until all souls in Hell are saved.
This novel may be short, but it’s a true page-turner with no wasted words! What amazed me most is that, although the story is set in modern Japan, the themes and scenes feel just as relatable here in the U.S. The “Hell Monk” character struck me as a kind of dark hero—somewhat reminiscent of Batman—but with a hilarious sense of humor. The book is funny yet profound, at times emotional, and filled with incredible insights. I highly recommend it!
